Anyone who lives off their own work — photographer, electrician, designer, private tutor, tailor — reaches the same conclusion early: a social media profile is not enough. A profile disappears into the feed, does not show up in search, and belongs to the platform.
What the site needs, and nothing more
Three things. Who you are and what you do, in a sentence anyone understands without effort. Real work, with good photos — nothing convinces like results. And how to reach you, visible on every page, with no complicated form.
The rest is optional. A lean site that is live pays off more than a perfect site that never ships.
Choosing where to build it
Platforms like WordPress, Squarespace and similar handle it without programming. The practical difference between them is smaller than it looks; pick the one you can operate on your own, because you will need to.
An address that is yours
It is worth registering your own domain, even on the cheapest plan. yourname.com gives a different impression and, above all, it is yours: if you switch platforms one day, the address goes with you and you do not lose what you built.
The part nobody warns you about
A published site is not a found site. Publishing tells nobody — not even Google. Set aside the same weekend for the basics of promotion: a title on each page with the words people type, a Google Business Profile, and presence in the search sites of your field.
That last step is the slowest by hand, and it is where Magneth shortens the path: you give the newly created address and the listing is published across more than 100 search sites in our network. The full walkthrough is in how to promote my website.
